What happens next?

The finalists have six weeks to make their wedding dresses, which will be worn by professional models and showcased on the catwalks of our Wedding Journal Shows in Dublin (9th and 10th January), Cork (16th and 17th January) and Belfast (29th to 31st January). For more information on the Wedding Journal Show times and to purchase tickets click here.

A celebrity voting panel featuring international bridal designers will choose the winning dress, and our 2016 Young Designer of the Year will be announced at the Wedding Journal Show, Belfast on Saturday 30th January.

The celebrity voting panel features the talented Ian Stuart who is known for creating gowns that are quite simply works of wearable art. We are also delighted to be working with leading British bridal wear designers – mother and daughter duo Amanda Wyatt and Charlotte Balbier who represent three generations of bridal fashion heritage. Our fourth celebrity judge is Louise Kennedy who is internationally recognised as one of Ireland’s more successful fashion designers with a reputation for creating an individual approach to each wedding dress commission. Our fifth judge will be a Wedding Journal representative.

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the finalists, and thank the young designers across the country for entering the competition and the public for taking the time to vote.
