Wedding Hat Trends for A/W 2015

4 key trends for mothers of the bride & guests to look out for

Wedding hat trends - disc 2

Irish milliners reveal their four favourite wedding hat trends for autumn/winter…

Disc or saucer shape

“There is a definite move towards larger disc or saucer style hats. Also smaller pillboxes are still well on trend and don’t get in the way of all those hugs and kisses that you are getting from the wedding guests.

Hats do not need to match the bag and shoes, and certainly do not need to be the exact colour of your outfit.”

Felt

“Felt is ideal for autumn.  It’s a heavier fabric so helps keep the wearer warm in the colder months.  I don’t tend to follow trends, especially for weddings.

My advice is to go for timeless elegance and classic colours.  I think simple trims and clean shapes are best.  The key thing is to get a hat made that complements your face, shape, style and personality.”

Feathers

“For autumn, hat designs are portraying a soft elegant look which complements both the outfit and the mother of the bride.

This can be achieved with both larger hats and headpieces. We see less focus on fussy designs and more emphasises on using clean elegant feather creations which portray a very modern look.”

Wide brim

“The brim is back! The wide brim hat is a key look for mothers of the bride or groom this season. The Duchess of Cornwall, Victoria Beckham, the Kardashians and numerous other well-known faces have recently been spotted wearing hats with brims for formal occasions.”
