Tom Daley Weds Dustin Lance Black
The loved-up pair hosted a luxurious castle wedding
Olympic diver and gold medalist Tom Daley tied the knot on Saturday to long-term partner and film-maker Dustin (Lance) Black, in a stunning affair at Bovey castle in the Devon countryside.
A string quartet played for the ceremony entrances, with four little flower girls following behind the couple to get the day started. 120 guests gathered at the beautiful castle’s summerhouse for the intimate ceremony where members of the London Gay Men’s Choir sang ‘Marry Me’ by Bruno Mars immediately after exchanging vows. A wedding insider described it as “a beautiful ceremony” and said that the couple’s vows were “brilliant and heartfelt.”
The day was then followed by a wedding breakfast in the Great Western Restaurant nearby, where the Plymouth Herald reports that guests were treated to sausage and mash, beef wellington and Eton mess. According to ‘The Sun’, the pair reportedly re-enacted a scene from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet at the beginning of their reception. Tom was seen to be acting the role of Juliet on a balcony quoting the classic line “Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo”, adding a playful element to their big day and paying tribute to Lance’s career in the arts as an Oscar-winning film-maker.
Olympic Diver and baking enthusiast Tom made the wedding cake himself, adding an extra personal touch to the day. It was reported to have been a large eccentric creation with a 1970’s psychedelic vibe.
An insider from the wedding told the Plymouth Herald “Tom and Lance organised the wedding themselves and it had their personalities stamped on every detail.” It was an intimate wedding, where they were surrounded by their nearest and dearest, with not a dry eye in the house during the speeches. Many paid tribute to Tom’s late dad Rob, who tragically died in 2011, making for an emotional evening. Everyone was full of praise for the couple who are ‘perfect for each other’ and everyone danced the night away in the Great Hall set within Dartmoor National Park. The evening finished with a spectacular fireworks display at around 10pm that night.
Dustin and Tom have been together since 2013, when Tom publicly came out in a YouTube video stating “his whole world had changed” after falling in love with a man, and the happy twosome have been inseparable ever since. There had been several comments regarding the age gap between the couple (20 years!) However Tom has been quick to fend off any criticism once stating “you can’t help who you fall in love with”. We can’t help but to agree with Tom!
