Met Gala fashion once again did not disappoint with a theme of ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’
Every year the Met Gala gives us a jaw-dropping array of dramatic fashion choices courtesy of the world’s most recognisable faces. From global pop stars to Hollywood A-listers and everyone in-between, the event attracts only the very best to fill its seats. And at US $25k a ticket, you can understand why only the elite attend.
2015’s gala was no disappointment as the stars unveiled their show-stopping looks to much acclaim. While the Met Gala does promise a more creative approach to fashion, many trends are easily adaptable for the bride who wants a wedding dress with a bit of added drama.
Very daring sheer paneling was a clear favourite at this year’s event with Beyonce stealing the show in her barely-there dress which only utilised sequins to protect her modesty. Hot on her heels was Kim Kardashian who also opted for a sheer number, but added a long, feathered train for a distinctly eye-catching impact.
Colour trends included gold and red, which were a nod to the main theme of the event, and feathers, furs and sequins were an undeniable favourite for the celebrity army. Of course we spotted our favourite bridal white, but the best Wedding Journal-approved looks included Helen Mirren who looked positively ageless in red and Kate Hudson’s slinky gold number.
