Media mogul Rupert Murdoch and former model and actress Jerry Hall are engaged after only four months of dating
Former supermodel Jerry Hall and media baron Rupert Murdoch have are set to marry after a four-month whirlwind romance and have announced their engagement news in the Times newspaper, which is owned by Rupert’s News Corporation company.
The couple first met in late summer and were reportedly introduced to each other in Australia by one Rupert’s sister and niece. They pair made their relationship public in October when they were pictured for the first time together at the Rugby World Cup final in London.
Billionaire Rupert proposed in Los Angeles over the weekend. The couple attended the 73rd Golden Globes awards gala before news of their engagement was made public, a diamond ring wasn’t spotted on Jerry’s hand when the pair walked arm-in-arm on the red carpet.
The classified engagement notice reads:
Mr Rupert Murdoch, father of Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace and Chloe Murdoch, and Miss Jerry Hall, mother of Elizabeth, James, Georgia and Gabriel Jagger, are delighted to announce their engagement.
A spokesperson for the Murdoch family told the Mail Online:
They have loved these past months together, are thrilled to be getting married and excited about their future.”
Rupert, 84, has been married three times before. This will be 59-year-old Jerry’s first marriage, although she was in a relationship with Rolling Stones frontman Sir Mick Jagger for 23 years and they have four children together. Jerry and Mick are said to have married in Bali in 1990 but Mick disputed that the marriage was ever actually legal.
