Old Hollywood glamour with a rustic twist

The couple

“We were both teachers at the same High School,” Jaime begins, “we worked together as friends for nearly eight years and in the last year before the school closed we began dating.”

The proposal

The romantic proposal took place during Ladies Night at Bangor Rugby Club. “Craig was taking part in the talent show and sang ‘All I want is You’ by Barry Louis Polisar on the guitar,” Jaime says. “Halfway through the song he came out into the audience continuing to sing and dropped to one knee and proposed in front of over one hundred women – there is video evidence to prove it!”

“I fell in love with the romanticism and quirkiness of Orange Tree House,” Jaime enthuses. “It was the first wedding venue we viewed on a very wet and miserable Friday evening and as soon as I entered the candle lit room I knew it was the one. I wanted something different but with a traditional feel and it ticked all of the boxes.”

The couple opted for a rustic vintage theme featuring lots of personal handmade touches.

Wedding dress

Jaime wore a Badgley Mischka wedding dress from Castle Couture, Ballymena. “My wedding dress named Bacall was a dark ivory, satin, sweetheart mermaid gown with a detachable tulle cape,” Jaime says, “the tulle cape was embellished with stones, lace and finished with crystal button closure. I wanted old Hollywood glamour and this dress was it! Kelly Osbourne wore a version of this at the 2014 Oscars. I had tried many, many dresses before this and wanted something that had the ‘wow’ factor. As soon as I put the dress on I knew it was the one. I loved the shape it gave me and of course the sparkle. Only one word can describe how I felt wearing it and that was ‘fabulous’.”

The groom wore a dark blue three-piece suit with an ivory shirt, vintage flower print tie and pocket square to match. Jaime gave him a pocket watch as a present on the morning of the wedding. The suits were hired from Focus Menswear in Bangor.

Wedding flowers

Janet Bradley from The Flower Room, Belfast created the wedding flowers. “I wanted a very rustic feel to the bouquets – to look almost like they were handpicked. The flowers included lavender, daisies, ivory roses and green foliage wrapped with lace and hessian ties,” Jaime explains.

The bride just so happens to be an art teacher and made all of the stationary herself including the invites and order of service which were hand painted using watercolours.
