Real Irish Wedding: 9th June 2012, Morocco
Since the moment they got engaged, Kathy and Rishi had their hearts set on a magical Moroccan wedding and with the help of Marrakech based wedding planners, Boutique Souk, the couple were able to make their destination dreams a reality and tie the knot on one of the most picturesque places on the planet.
For their wedding theme Kathy and Rishi wanted to incorporate the core colours, qualities and mystique of Morocco, whilst also blending a fusion of their two cultures by having a traditional roman-catholic church wedding ceremony and a Hindu blessing.
50 guests were invited and treated to a pre-wedding dinner on the roof top of the one of the best riad hotels in the old medina. The celebration began as the sun set over the Atlas Mountains followed by a beautiful candle lit dinner. After dinner the guests converged to a draped pergola for an intimate Hindu ceremony welcoming Kathy to the family.
On the wedding day Kathy wore a stunning ivory lace Pepe Botella bridal gown from London Bride Couture with a headpiece from Halo and Co and handmade wedding shoes by Harriett Wilde.
Wedding guests dined on an indulgent menu that included avocado soup; salad of gambas with pink grapefruit; lamb makfoul tajine with sides of vegetarian cous cous portions of sautéed potatoes and a trio of mini- desserts – chocolate mouse, raspberry panna cotta and fruit salad.
“During the wedding reception we had a trio of Moroccan musicians playing and singing gently as the guests ate,” Rishi reveals. “After dinner, fire-dancers wowed guests with their daring stunts and the DJ played some of the best mixes of Hindi, R&B, and the latest chart music which kept the guests on their feet until finally the plug had to be pulled!
