Real Irish Wedding: Thursday 8th August 2013, Galgorm Resort & Spa
It’s not always wise to mix business with pleasure, but when it came to his wedding day, Galgorm Resort & Spa’s wedding co-ordinator Oliver Mort knew that this award winning hotel would give him and his fianceé Emma the wedding they dreamed of…
“We chose Galgorm Resort & Spa for a few reasons,” Emma begins. “Oliver is a Wedding Co-ordinator at the hotel, so he knew everything about it and how the service and staff are second to none. We also went to see a couple of other wedding venues and they just didn’t compare to Galgorm.”
Groom-to-be Oliver did most of the hotel planning as this is his profession. “Oliver used most of the suppliers that are recommended from Galgorm in the packages, as he has a good working relationship with them and they are all excellent in their field,” enthuses Emma. “Barbara from Fairytales dressed the room with fairylight drapes and the room looked perfect.”
Oliver adds: “: Make sure you are organised. Being a Wedding Co-ordinator gave me an advantage when it came to planning everything at the hotel. However, Emma made sure everything else was organised and it really made a difference in the lead up to the wedding.”
Emma’s ivory satin wedding dress is by Polish designer Annais Bridal and was purchased from White Butterfly. It featured a fitted bodice with a sweetheart neckline and had a beautiful lace overlay. “I felt beautiful in my wedding dress, and everyone said it was very complementary to my figure,” she recalls.
Oliver and his groomsmen wore Black Remus Uomo dinner suits with an ivory waistcoat and ivory tie from Hire Class Ballymena.
Emma’s bridesmaids wore black sweetheart neck line dresses also out of White Butterfly.
Sally’s Floral Studio did the flowers. The round bouquets featured ivory roses with pearl and diamantes. Complementing the flowers Emma said: “Sally’s flowers were so elegant, everyone commented on how beautiful they were.”
The couple’s round, three-tier wedding cake was by Gemma’s Cakes, Castledawson. Decorated with lace and black ribbon the cakes were Raspberry and White Chocolate, Chocolate and Sponge & Jam. Describing it, Emma is full of praise: “The cake was so fresh and tasty. It was amazing!”
Oliver: I enjoyed the trip back to Galgorm in the Rolls Royce, as it was the only time during the course of the day that we got half an hour together alone.
Emma: Our first dance. Our song was K-Ci and JoJo, All My Life. Since I was a child I always wanted this to be my Wedding song and I was so happy that I finally got to dance with my true love.
