Not one, not two but five high society weddings in one weekend and we have the complete low down
The cream of British high society must have been exhausted come Saturday night after traveling up and down the county for no less than FIVE weddings in one day. Those posh folk have some stamina when it comes to partying…
Aristocratic wedding season was in full swing as the likes of Princess Beatrice and Prince Harry’s new girlfriend Cressida Bonas turned out in their fanciest frills to see their high profile friends exchange vows on Saturday.
Of course, no high-society wedding is complete without an eccentric wedding dress that proves money can’t quite buy style. So let’s take a look at the good, the bad and the downright crazy.
Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs and Rupert Finch
In Gloucester, Lawyer and former flame of Kate Middleton, Rupert Finch married Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, founder of ethically sound luxury fashion label Beulah London. We must admit, the bride looked like a bit of a copy-Kate in her long sleeved lace wedding dress, drop earrings, half up, half down hair-do and smoky eye makeup. Finch definitely seems to have a type.
Charlotte Goldsmith and Philip Colbert
In East London, the daughter of financier James Goldsmith and his mistress Laure Boulay de la Meurthe, married flamboyant designer Philip Colbert. The couple wore rather…nontraditional outfits. Bride Charlotte did look quite cute and quirky in her fifties style wedding dress with a bird cage veil and cream bolero. Philip on the other hand was quite a sight in his suit which was patterned with oddly shaped lobsters. At least, we think they’re lobsters.
Ceawlin Thynn and Emma McQuiston
Viscount Waymouth, Ceawlin Thynn’s wedding courted quite a bit of controversy this weekend as the bride, Emma McQuiston became the first ever black Marchioness in Britain. Their marriage has caused quite the rift within the British elite, so much so that her own father-in-law snubbed the big day!
Heloise Lorentzen and Sean Wilson-Smith
Despite snubbing his own son’s big day, the 80-year-old Marquess of Bath wasn’t going to miss out on high society wedding season, so instead decided to attend the wedding ceremony of professional polo players Heloise Lorentzen and Sean Wilson-Smith , which took place in Wonston in front of 250 wedding guests.
Peregrine Hood and Serena Nikkah
Good friend of Prince William, Peregrine Hood (amazing name) married Vogue fashion editor Serena Nikkah this weekend at his step-father’s estate, Charlton Park in Malmesbury. Despite being close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, neither of the royals attended the big day. Probably due to the fact that they were invited to all the other society weddings that weekend, and being eight months pregnant.
