Leinster and Irish rugby prop has proposed to his long-term girlfriend Laura Smith.
The couple had been together since their school days before briefly splitting to pursue their respective careers in 2012. Laura moved to New York to focus on her advertising career, in which she has since excelled. Highly respected in her chosen field, Laura studied at Smurfit for her MSc in Marketing and has a degree from Dublin Business School. Returning to Ireland in 2015, she now is a marketing director for foodie business ‘Strong Roots’.
Since her return in 2015, Cian and Laura have reunited and are now engaged to be married. The Independent.ie says she and Cian have been sharing the lovely news of their engagement with friends and family over the past few days. At the time of the reconciliation, a source told the Independent:
“She’s a really nice girl – she’s very down to earth and very career driven. She did really well for herself in New York and she’s been there for Cian since she got back.”
Prior to rekindling his love with Laura, Cian had a highly publicised relationship with former Miss Ireland and blogger Holly Carpenter, splitting in 2014.
Mr Healy will certainly be in good company with wedding planning amongst the Ireland rugby squad with newlyweds Jamie Heaslip, Fergus McFadden and Iain Henderson all on the team to lend a helping hand or indeed some advice!
Congratulations to the happy couple!
