From catwalk runways to wedding cakes – pearls are everywhere this season. Chic, class and understated; here’s how to have a pearl themed wedding…
Pearl hair accessories are the epitome of elegance. For a nineteen-twenties look pair a pearl headband with a feather, or strings of waist-length pearl necklaces. A simple garland worn over the forehead can look modern and edgy, or vintage depending on the style of your wedding dress, makeup and hair.
Bridal Fashion Week runways featured gorgeous pearl-embellished gowns which are predicted to be very much on-trend for 2016. Designers are going for the ‘less is more look’ by adding subtle beaded touches and swapping shoulder straps for strings of pearls. Beads draping elegantly down the back are the must-have accessory for the daringly low back styles that we see so much of at the moment.
We love this pearl detail, stacked cushion wedding cake by Elizabeth’s Cake Emporium. For a more traditional design consider cakes with pearl garlands loosely draped over them, or else neatly attached to the bottom of each tier.
There are lots of options for adding pearls to your wedding bouquet; wrapped around the stems, pinned among the flowers, or you could order a bouquet made entirely from pearls.
Add them to glass vases of peonies or roses for classy centrepieces.
These embellished Harriet Wilde shoes would look simply stunning worn with a three-quarter length wedding dress, or from behind as you kneel down during the ceremony. You could also accessorise with a dainty clutch bag, delicate bracelet, necklace or drop earrings. For a more attention-grabbing night time look consider attaching a dramatic epaulette (shoulder necklace) to your dress.
