GAA star Paul Galvin and presenter Louise Duffy reveal wedding plans including the date and location of their upcoming nuptials
Irish celebrity couple, GAA star and fashion journalist Paul Galvin and Today FM’s Louise Duffy, have revealed their plans to tie the knot on New Year’s Eve 2015 in Louise’s home county of Mayo.
Although Louise hosts her own radio chat show, she has kept quiet about her wedding plans until now, only sharing that she would like a Christmas wedding. The couple first met in 2011 and got engaged three years later, with Louise choosing her own ring.
The 2014 New York proposal came as a complete surprise to Louise. She recently told VIP magazine:
When we had once hypothetically spoken about getting married, Paul asked me: ‘How would you like your proposal to be?’ and I said only two things mattered – that I would like the person to ask my dad first and then to surprise me. Both of which he did!”
The popular broadcaster said that she knew that the Kerry footballer was the one for her after only a few dates.
I remember our first couple of dates; I just knew he was a fantastic man.
So yeah, it was pretty early on that I knew it was something pretty lasting and we were going to be in it for the long haul.
I think you just have to be best friends with somebody who has your back.”
Paul has moved to Dublin to live with his fiancée on a part time basis, while also commuting to Kerry. The former Kerry footballer has not one but two reasons to celebrate this year; a wedding and a place in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final which takes place later this month.
