The Wedding Journal Show makes a triumphant return to Cork, wowing the crowds with a bridal exhibition and catwalk show unlike any other…
Everyone, and we mean everyone, was talking about the arrival of The Wedding Journal Show to the Clayton Hotel, Silversprings Cork on the 16th & 17th January.
Brides-to-be, their fiancees, friends and family simply couldn’t wait for Ireland’s national wedding show to come to the city, and when it did, they weren’t disappointed as the Cork show was a cracker!
The Clayton Hotel Convention Centre looked amazing, filled with stands from Cork’s leading wedding businesses and suppliers. Spanning two floors, popular names participating included Fota Island, Fine Art Weddings, Dawson travel, The Wedding Shop at Brown Thomas, Laura Kates Bridal Boutique and many many more. Best Stand Award went to Cinderellas Closet for their pop-up boutique that brides found simply irresistible.
With such a brilliant variety of exhibitors, couples were spoilt for choice when it came to sourcing wedding ideas, as one bride-to-be said:
“It’s fantastic, we only came for a few ideas to get us started but you could actually plan everything you need for your wedding day here.”
The brilliant bridal catwalk
While the exhibitors wowed with their creative stands, the Wedding Journal Show models did everything they could to ensure they were the talk of the town, putting on three show-stopping catwalk shows each day. Performing to a packed-out hall, the catwalk included a preview of the new 2016 collections for brides, grooms and mother of the bride and groom with scenes from Amore Bridal, The Moderne, Lapel 1865, Tom Murphy menswear, Exclusively Yours and Laura Kates.
Adding another dimension to the bridal fashion offering at the show – the Curvy Bride Style Seminars were hosted by the experts from Allure Women whose figure flattering gowns looked simply stunning on plus size models Nikkita and Kitty.
Win a €25,000 wedding final
Come Sunday afternoon you could feel the levels of excitement rising in the air as the couples gathered for the final of the Win a €25,000 wedding. Nine couples from Cork’s Red FM joined two couples chosen from entries at the show on the main stage for the live giveaway and what a finale it was! Couples had to face not just one but three challenges before finding out who the winner was and the hall erupted into applause when Susan McCarthy & Frank Brennan were declared the winners.
Speaking to Wedding Journal after the big win Susan confessed that the wedding prize would change their lives and that it felt like they had won the Lotto.
The couple may not have won millions but they did win an amazing package including a wedding reception at the Radisson Blu Cork; a honeymoon cruise with Royal Caribbean; a wedding dress from Ritva Westenius; grooms wear from Tom Murphy; rings from Neville Jewellers and wedding photography by Healy Rimmington.
The VIP experience
Hotly in demand, the Wedding Journal Show’s VIP tickets were a sell out before the show even opened and those lucky enough to have got their hands on one were treated to a fab VIP experience. VIPs were greeted with a glass of McGuigan Frizzante, mouthwatering chocolates from Blarney Chocolate Factory, a fab goody bag and Nails Inc manicure. They also beat the crowds and enjoyed reserved seating at the catwalk for the best view in the house!
The Wedding Journal Show’s next date is Belfast from the 29th- 231st January in the Titanic Exhibition Centre.
If you didn’t catch the Cork show this time – it will be back in autumn, so watch this space!
