The Dukan Diet

What is it?
Created by Pierre Dukan, it is a high-protein, low-carb, and low-fat weight loss plan, with an “eat as much as you want” promise. It is designed to put the body in a state of ketosis and attack its own fat reserves.

How do I do it?
It consists of four phases. Attack: eat as much protein rich foods as you like, including lean meat and fish, eggs and non-fat dairy for the first 10 days. Cruise: introduce unlimited non-starchy vegetables every other day. Alternate protein only and protein and vegetable only days until you reach your target weight. Consolodation: once ideal weight is reached, slowly re-introduce fruit, carbs, and fat Stay in this phase 10 days for every kilo of weight lost during the first two stages. Stabilisation: eat normally again, but commit to one pure-protein day each week for life.

Before embarking on any of these diets, we suggest you consult your doctor or a nutritionist to ensure that a change to your dietary habits is safe for you. And if you don’t want to go down such a drastic route, we suggest the diet favoured by WeddingJournalOnline. It’s the-eat-less-biscuits-and-move-a-bit-more diet. It works pretty well for us.
