Popular wedding dress designer and presenter of TV show ‘Say Yes to the Dress’, Randy Fenoli reveals to Glamour his pet wedding hate and offers key advice to brides-to-be starting out in their quest for the perfect gown.
Randy, who has been the fashion director at Klenfield bridal in New York City for the past eight years, has more recently designed his own stunning bridal range that was debuted earlier this year. Designing his own line has made Randy reminisce about bridal trends of eras past, and there’s one particular trend he revealed he NEVER wants to see again- 80’s fashion!
Speaking with Glamour, when asked what wedding trend he dislikes, he certainly didn’t hesitate in saying:
“Almost anything from the eighties, big hair, bouquets, veils, dresses and very long trains, everything was excessive”
The designer explained his choice by detailing that all these over-the-top ensembles and bridal looks distract from the bride and their natural beauty.
Randy noticed this gap in the wedding gown market for a softer and more classic look, and so created a collection of 25 gowns that feature heavily on soft layering, delicate detail and dresses that the bride can ‘own’ – rather than the dress wearing the bride!
Randy’s collection goes from sizes 0-28, with the view that EVERY bride should feel beautiful on their wedding day. He says:
“My deep connection to brides inspired each piece… I am truly honoured to be a part of making a woman feel her most beautiful… [This] is the most rewarding feeling for me”
When asked by Glamour on his advice for future brides when starting the hunt for their dream wedding dress, Randy said
“Set a budget. Make sure you have your venue picked out and the season of the year. Have an idea of the style of dress you want, but keep an open mind to trying on different styles”
