Trend alert: sexy backless wedding dresses
Is it just us or are wedding dresses getting more daring by the day? We’re all self confessed admirers of the sexy wedding dress trend but we know that it’s not the most convenient look for the average bride to be. Especially as the majority of Irish brides still opt for a church ceremony; imagine what your granny would say about you being half naked in a place of worship!
As well, we all have body hang ups which seem to escape the models on the bridal catwalks and we’re just not quite comfortable showcasing all of our lumpy bits to our nearest and dearest. So a great way to access the statement bridal gown trend is with a backless wedding dress. A breathtakingly low back will ensure all eyes are on you when you make your grand entrance, but is easy to conceal in front-on photographs, allowing you to switch between a daring and conservative bridal look, depending on your mood.
How low can you go?
The sexiest backless wedding dress option, low backs are all over the runway. The perfect option for a destination wedding somewhere warm but are there any Irish brides brave enough?
Detailed backs can make the most exquisite wedding dresses and are a great alternative to completely backless. Ask your bridal shop to add flowers, beading, butterflies… the list is endless!
Cut out panel
A really popular option with Irish brides, cut out panelling adds a wonderful unique detail to your wedding day outfit. Keep the panel small and discreet or make a statement by baring your back.
A hot bridal trend on the catwalks, illusion backs are a great way of appearing naked when you’re not. Dare to bare with the Pronovias gown or give the impression of being more covered up with a less skin coloured material like Diane Legrand.
Backs we love
We’re really loving the Justin Alexander back; although it flashes quite a bit of flesh, the thick scalloped straps make it appear quite modest. On a side known, why not bling up your gown with beaded straps or buttoning for that extra va va voom?
