In true theatrical style, the leading ladies at the Tony Awards 2015 were a sight to behold at Sunday night’s ceremony.
It was a stark contrast to the jaw-dropping, gravity-defying gowns we have seen at previous awards ceremonies this year as A-list stars kept it sophisticated for the gala awards ceremony which annually honours the very best of the world’s stage performances.
Stealing the show from the very beginning was Dame Helen Mirren who not only took home the award for Best Leading Actress but also our Wedding Journal Award for best dressed. Wearing our very favourite bridal white, Dame Helen flattered her figure and her age in a stylish, fitted white number complete with 70’s style embellished sleeves and a beautiful amount of diamante sparkle. Her performance as Queen Elizabeth in The Audience is what won her a coveted Tony on the night, but we think she deserves just as much recognition for her winning fashion choice.
Joining Dame Helen in the fashion elite was event host Kristen Chenoworth who successfully combined both sophistication and seductiveness in her slinky, on-trend silver number, and Jennifer Lopez, who abandoned her traditionally risque style for a glittering, navy blue ballgown.
Bridesmaids style was in full force as well, with many stars opting for gowns which could easily transition into perfect choices for an autumn or winter wedding. Emily Ratajkowski stunned audiences in a midnight blue number featuring a hint of her taute tummy. Meanwhile, Bella Hadid wore a two-tone cream and black dress combined with a severe up-do.
