Betty’s Bridal Blog: That’s A Wrap!
My Belfast show round up…
Betty here, your WJS resident bride-to-be!
Well, what can I say, my fiancé, my girls and I have had the CRAZIEST two weeks having attended the Wedding Journal Show in both Dublin and Belfast! We had two fantastic, fun-filled weekends and we certainly made the most of our time when it came to setting some wedding plans in stone, getting lots of inspiration and letting loose!
Last week, I wrote a blog about my round-up of the Dublin show, all I got up to and what exhibitors Gary and I booked for our wedding (eek!). This week, I’m letting you all know the ins and outs of our time at the Belfast show in the Titanic Exhibition Centre and how we spent our day…
First of all, you’re probably wondering why I attended both events, but with two completely different shows with different exhibitors, services and stands, I wanted to get LOTS of inspiration and make sure I was getting to see a wide range of the best bridal businesses in the country! Turns out, this was THE BEST idea as I have never felt more prepared or excited for anything in my life! Gary and I are well and truly on the way to building our perfect day…
So, following the success of our strategy at the Dublin show (see in my previous blog entry here), my girls and I decided to stick to plan and go VIP on the Saturday together for the ultimate girl’s day out! We went along in our hen party gear to really get into the spirit of things, where I wore a fabulous Ted Baker white dress, a bride-to-be-sash, a tiara and a little veil! The girls rocked their ‘bridesmaids’ sashes and shot glass necklaces and we went straight to the VIP lounge to start the day in style.
We got our complimentary glasses of champagne, some delicious cupcakes by ‘Gemma’s Cakes’ and we even got a lovely goodie bag from Paddy McGurgan with some beauty essentials inside. We relaxed in the lounge before mapping out our plan of action, browsing through the show guide deciding which suppliers to visit and which catwalk show to catch!
After spending a few hours chatting to exhibitors, noting down their offers and deals (I can’t make any decisions without my fiancé of course!) and taking in all the stunning styling and decor inspiration from the stands, we made our way to the fabulous international catwalk show, one of my fav parts!.
Having been inspired by the ball-gown dresses on the Dublin catwalk show I knew exactly what to look out for on stage at Belfast, and I wasn’t disappointed! We were treated to a hoard of dancing models who strutted their stuff in the latest bridal, groomswear and bridesmaids collections for 2018. And as we were VIP ticket holders, we had reserved seating on the front-row of the catwalk show, which made us feel like we stepped onto the catwalks at NYFW! I even spotted a few fabulous ball-gown dresses on stage which I made a note of finding after the show!
The following day, my fiancé Gary and I headed back to the show with fresh heads to avail of the exclusive and fantastic offers that some of my favourite exhibitors had on. I had done most of the hard work on the Saturday chatting to suppliers and seeing what’s on offer, so it was such a lovely and relaxed experience heading back on the Sunday with Gary to learn a little more about the exhibitors and their services- most even remembered me from the day before! And low and behold, after a lovely morning we had decided on and booked another three aspects of our wedding! And after booking a further three suppliers at Dublin, we were absolutely delighted at our finds- time well spent!
First of all, we booked our venue styling with the lovely ‘Charm’ wedding studio, their stand was BEAUTIFUL and we just knew they would be able to decorate our venue to bring our vision to life. Secondly, having seen some of the suave suits on the catwalk, Gary booked his groomswear suit with ‘The Fashion House’.
Lastly, we fell in love with the designs from Perfect Day Print, so we booked with them to design our wedding stationery for our big day! Following the success of our day, we thought what better way to celebrate than to upgrade our tickets to VIP (for only £6!), where we kicked back, relaxed and sampled some sweet treats with a glass of fizz in hand- my kinda Sunday!
For all you brides and grooms-to-be this is one event you don’t want to miss, it really is the ultimate wedding planning day out! I would highly recommend it to all newly engaged couples, whether you’re just starting out on your wedding planning journey, or want to tie the event together with those last finishing details and touches.
Thank you all for sharing my wedding journey with me, and I hope to see you all at our Spring shows!
