Betty’s Bridal Blog: My Top Five Dress Picks
Hey Guys! Betty here, your resident WJS bride-to-be!
So as all of you may know, I am getting married in 2019 to the love of my life, Gary and we’ve been doing some serious planning recently (particularly at the autumn 2017 Wedding Journal Shows!). We booked several suppliers for our wedding, which really got the ball rolling, however I have been holding off on buying that all important wedding dress, as I wanted to see the latest 2018 bridal collections before making any rash decisions!
My girls and I (Taylor and Grace) got to enjoy the International Catwalk from the front row at the Wedding Journal Show with all the latest bridal and bridesmaid collections, which was amazing as not only was it a great experience but it gave me lots of inspiration too! I’m your typical girly-girl and was attracted by anything princess style, sparkly or floral, so with this in mind I’ve been trawling through the snaps from NY bridal fashion week to pick out some of my favourite styles and trends that I’d love for my big day. It was a tough choice, but I managed to narrow it down to my five favourite styles for 2018 that I plan to try on my quest for my dream dress…
1 Hayley Paige
I have to admit, I am a sucker for a Hayley Paige gown! Big skirts, romance and elegance with feminine detail? It’s a winner in my book! I particularly LOVED this ‘Lulu’ gown below:
2 Galia Lahav
The description says it all… this Galia Lahav gown is super dreamy and is described as “a magical princess ball gown with hand-made flower appliques”, could it be anymore perfect?
3- Lela Rose
Getting married in Spring myself, I am extremely drawn to the 3D floral detail on the Spring 2018 collection dresses! This dress from Lela Rose Bridal, called ‘Primrose Hill’ is a gorgeously whimsical gown. I also love the flattering A-line shape and peaked bodice for a little something different.
Although I do live a ball-gown, I can be swayed by a fitted number! This Meredith gown by Enzoani 2019 collection caught my eye as it was sweet, romantic and lacy whilst being fitted at the top but also with a dramatic organza skirt.
I was also drawn by this new Berta dress, as I love the detailed lace, sweetheart neckline and fit. Whilst I would love a ballgown for my ceremony, I have already dreamed of having a sexier fitted dress for the evening reception, and this ticks all my boxes!
Although these are my current top five dresses, I’m going to keep my options open when it comes to bridal shopping. I’m already excited to check out the latest dresses on the catwalk at the Spring Wedding Journal Shows in Belfast and Dublin, where I hope to find my dream dress..
Until next time!
