Gale force winds and snow in some parts didn’t deter the crowds and the Wedding Journal Show Belfast was as action packed as ever
Following on from the success of the first Wedding Journal Show to take place in the new Titanic Convention Centre back in September 2015, the Wedding Journal returned this weekend with a show that was even bigger with lots of new offerings.
It all kicked off on Friday afternoon and the Titanic Convention Centre was buzzing as the country’s leading wedding businesses and suppliers made finishing touches to their stands before the crowds arrived.
Perfect Day, Lurgan was awarded Best Stand and their gorgeous display was a talking point among brides-to-be looking for their dream dress.
With such a fabulous array of suppliers, wedding planning was made easy for the couples who attended, as one groom-to-be said:
We just got engaged at Christmas and we didn’t really know where to start wedding planning – but now we do, in fact we even booked our venue today.”
New for 2016 was the Bridal Boulevard; a unique shopping area where brides-to-be came to view wedding dresses, accessories and more. Models showcased the very latest 2016 styles on the mini-catwalk throughout the day from Perfect Day, No. 8 Bridal, Creative Ideas, and The Exotic Shawl Company, to name a few.
The International Bridal Catwalk Show was another highlight for many brides searching for a wedding dress. The talented team of models stole the show as they danced down the fashion runway wearing the latest collections from world-renowned manufacturers and top suppliers including Romantique Bridal, The Fashion House, Mori Lee and Marie Me Bridal.
The Curvy Bride Style Seminar also drew a huge audience and Irish models Kitty and Nikki wowed the crowd in the new Allure Women Collection, which is aimed at the curvy bride.
Our VIP area was actually a specially erected luxurious marquee from Northdown Marquees. VIP guests were treated to a glass of McGuigan Frizzante, mouth-watering handmade chocolates by The Chocolate Box NI, a Nails Inc Express Manicure, and a fab goody bag.
The live final of the Young Designer of the Year 2016 took place on stage and Derry/Londonderry fashion designer Melissa Gormley was announced as the winner. The final was the culmination of months of work by the talented young designers who handmade wedding dresses for the competition – well done to all involved.
We gave away a £25,000 wedding!
On Sunday afternoon the sense of excitement and tension was palpable as 12 finalists took to the stage for the live final of the Win a £25,000 wedding, in association with Belfast Live and Q Radio.
With prizes from Lissan House, Pinnacle Worldwide, No. 8 Bridal, Murray & Co, InVogue Photo and Remus Uomo, this really was a life changing competition. A clearly ecstatic Sarah McMeekin and Samuel Domlin were announced as winners. Unbelievably Sarah and Samuel had been finalists in the Win a Wedding competition two years ago. It was second time lucky for the couple and they walked away with the £25,000 prize this time.
The Wedding Journal Show team are looking forward to bring the show back again in autumn. See you then!
