“The following two photos were taken one windy day in May at Carton House Hotel, Maynooth with Jill and Cathal. Despite the gale force winds and nearly being hit by a golf ball (shot on the golf course) the couple didn’t let it ruin their day.”

“The roads around the rural countryside often make for a great backdrop. We donned the wellies, and the umbrellas were only out of the scene for about 10 seconds although the photo might suggest the newlyweds had been dandering the hills for an hour talking and planning their wonderful future together.”

“Early on a winter’s evening  makes for some wonderful and atmospheric scenes. We stepped out of the hotel just before the first dance. The bride was wrapped in a big coat and the photos was taken with and without it. I look at these photos and remember the adventures and I do have to admit that I enjoy the stories and relationships that are create during less than perfect weather conditions. They make for great adventure and tales that I hear retold through the rest of the bride and groom’s wedding day.”

“Donegal is far from a tropical region, my clients know this and we talk about Plan B scenarios should the rain come on their wedding day. As we drove from the church the rain showed no sign of let up and I saw the opportunity on the mountain road. I told the bride and groom we’d need 10 seconds at very most under the light rain. Umbrellas to cover them we got in position, freed them of the umbrella, click, click with the camera, then a dash for the car. Two photos and about five seconds under a light rain to make this happen and it was possibly my favourite of the day. Spontaneity and a good healthy positive attitude win every time.”
