Ghan House Carlingford

Ghan House Carlingford is an eighteenth century country house set within walled grounds making it ideal for an exclusive and unique wedding venue.

It is just an hours drive from Dublin and Belfast with views of Carlingford Lough, Slieve Foy mountain & The mountains of Mourne.

For weddings up to 110 guests where the unique atmosphere of a Georgian House lends itself to a very sociable day;

  • Champagne reception on the lawns – overlooked by the adjacent Heritage Centre which is licensed for Civil Ceremonies, we have now also hosted Civil Ceremonies.
  • Dancing in the ballroom
  • Log fires & candlelight

The Drawing Room holds up to 60 guests and has a fully tuned grand piano. There are magnificent views of Slieve Foy, the mountains of Mourne and the castellated walled gardens of Ghan House.

Most of the weddings held at Ghan House have 70 to 110 guests where 2 other dining rooms are used ~ utilising the whole house. Later on the band or DJ sets up in the ballroom.

The Ghan House alternative to the big hotel function room makes for a very intimate, sociable and great wedding!

“Just wanted to write and thank you and your staff for the excellent service provided on our wedding day, celebrated at Ghan House on the 11th March. The professional attitude of the staff and attention to detail made our wedding reception a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience for all of our guests. The food was excellent and your establishment is much deserving of the excellent reviews attributed to it. Thank you once again.”

    Simply put, Ghan House is perfect in every way. From beginning to end they were courteous, helpful and bent over backwards to make sure that our day was even more special than we could’ve imagined. It felt more intimate than being in a big hotel function room, my granny and her friends could relax on a big comfy sofa in the lounge by the log fire whilst others were in the Ballroom with the band. It was like nothing I have ever seen before. Simple, elegant and friendly. It felt like we owned the place for the day!

    From the the moment we visited it we knew it was the place for us to celebrate and have the perfect intimate wedding that we wanted to share with our family and friends. I can’t thank all the staff enough from the start of planning to the whole running of the day they made it all so easy with there friendly, warm and professional attitude.
    Everyone couldn’t get enough of the wonderful food, truly delicious and my brother is a chef so he doesn’t give out compliments lightly !! The place was just elegant and cosy with the log fire room and bar. The best scenery I could wish for to show what Ireland had to offer on a crisp bright late autumn day as the mountains had a touch of snow. Rustic, vintage and simply elegant would do it all again. Ghan house Staff thank you!
