Rubgy star Peter Stringer marries Debbie O’Leary in a lavish star-studded ceremony in a Spanish location yesterday.
Munster star Peter married his long-term partner Debbie in an outdoor ceremony in the Nuestra Señora de la Encarnacion church in Plaza de la Iglesia, Marbella, with close family and friends in attendance including celebs Nadia Forde and Peter’s former teammates Donncha O’Callaghan and Paul O’Connell, and Ireland captain Mick Gawley.
Sadly model Nadia Ford’s mother Berenice Paolozzi passed away from cancer last Saturday with her daughter by her bedside, however Nadia insisted on going to the wedding anyway despite suffering this personal trauma as she wanted to be there for her best friend on her big day.
The bride wore a sweetheart strapless gown with a fishtail train – she complemented the look with a cathedral veil and dusky pink cream and cream bouquet. Peter wore a navy suit with pink tie and brown brogues.
Debbie tweeted a photo on her wedding morning with the caption, ‘Wedding Breakfast. So excited for this day.’ Later in the day she posted another pic on Instagram of glittering shoes; Jimmy Choos and LK Bennetts, which were worn by Debbie and her sister Ciara, and a pair of child’s sparkly pumps which were worn by Debbie’s niece who served as flower girl.
The loved up couple opted to have a small bridal party with one bridesmaid, and only invited select guests in a bid to keep the wedding an intimate affair. Ahead of the ceremony Peter told Ray D’Arcy on RTÉ Radio One that he doesn’t like being the centre of attention and would prefer for his bride to take the limelight, “I’m going to deflect a lot of it on to Debbie, it’s all about her, and I’ll try fade into the background as much as I can.”
Cork native Peter proposed to Debbie in Barbados last year after six years of dating.
